Jessica Received the Inaugural Johnson & Johnson WiSTEM2D Scholars Award

Wei Vivian Li received a UCLA Dissertation Year Fellowship for the 2018 – 2019 Academic Year

Distinguished Ph.D. students who have advanced to candidacy and are within one year of completing their dissertation are eligible for this fellowship. The quality, originality and significance of their research are criterion used to determine the awardees. Congratulations to Wei (Vivian) for this outstanding achievement!

Jessica received the 2018 ICSA Conference Junior Researcher Paper Award

Jessica received the 2018 International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA) Conference Junior Researcher Paper Award for the manuscript titled “Budget-Constrained Feature Selection for Binary Classification: a Neyman-Pearson Approach,” co-authored with Yiling Chen and Dr. Xin Tong.

Ruochen won the Most Outstanding Masters Student Award

Ruochen Jiang won the Most Outstanding Masters Student Award at the 2018 UCLA Department of Statistics Commencement. Congratulations Ruochen!

Yiling Received the Biomedical Big Data Training Grant

Yiling Chen received the Biomedical Big Data (BBD) Training Grant, supported by NIH-NCI T32LM012424 and UCLA. She was the only international Ph.D. student to do so. Congratulations Yiling!

Jessica Li has been awarded a 2018 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship

Congratulations to faculty member Jingyi Jessica Li who has been awarded a 2018 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship. This very prestigious fellowship is awarded to early-career scholars who represent the most promising scientific researchers working today. Fellows receive a $65,000 award to support their research.
